The Experimental Center of Materials Science and Engineering was founded in 2016. And it is a comprehensive experimental platform with functions such as material preparation, property and structural characterization, performance testing, andmaterials calculation and design, supporting both teaching and scientific research for the students and faculty of school of material science and engineering.

The center contains a range of large-scale precision analytical instruments, including a field-emission transmission electron microscope (FETEM), a field-emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), an X-ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS), a solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer (SSNMR),a physical property measurement system (PPMS),afocused ion beam electron beam dual beam microscope, an X-ray diffractometer (XRD), a confocal microscope/raman spectrometer (Raman), a single crystal X-ray diffractometer (SXRD), an elemental analyzer (EA), a magnetic property measurement system (MPMS), and a thermal analysis – infrared system.

The center also provides open services for material analysis and testing to researchers both within and outside Nankai university. Its main tasks include microstructure characterization, property testing, and composition analysis of a wide variety of materials.
