The School of Materials Science and Engineering offers undergraduate education in the chemical and physical behavior of a broad range of modern advanced materials, and establish students' solid speciality knowledge, learning and creative ability, and comprehensive qualities to for professional careers in academia and in a wide range of industries.

Currently, the School has two undergraduate majors, Materials Chemistry and Materials Physics. Materials Chemistry is aimed at developing a thorough understanding and knowledge across all aspects in chemistry of materials, as well as developing practical skills, and using industrially relevant equipment. Materials Physics is aimed at developing a full and universal understanding of the physical aspects of materials, as well as including practical ability.
