Research Center for Carbon and Polymer Composite Materials

Thecenter for Carbon Nanomaterials and Polymer Science in School of MaterialsScience and Engineering was established in July, 2015. This center originatedfrom the teaching and research group of nanoscience and nanotechnology started inNankai University in 2004.

Theresearch areas of this center span the most attractive frontier disciplines ofNanomaterials and Polymer Science and Engineering. Our interests focused on CarbonNanomaterials (including Graphene, Carbon nanotubes, and their high performancepolymer composites), Intelligent Polymer Materials, Flexible and Stretchabledevices.

Theseresearches have been supported by broad resources, including National NaturalScience Foundation, National "973" and "863" Programs, theKey Technologies R&D Program from Tianjin Research Foundation, etc. So far,more than 100 papers have been published in high level journals (including Nat. Photonics, Nat. Commun., Adv. Mater.,Nano Lett., JACS, ACS Nano, Adv. Funct. Mater.) with more than 10000citations. These research works have won many important awards, such as the Naturalscience and technology progress awards from the Chinese government.

Besides scientificresearch, our center pays much attention to cultivating students’ innovativethinking, strong research skills, and team spirit. In the coming few years, ourcenter will set up a strong, cooperative and international team of more than 5professors and 30 students. This center will provide a creative and supportiveenvironment where world-class research and high quality education could bedelivered in important discipline of Nano Materials and Polymer Science andEngineering.
