Vice President Meets with Leaders of the School of Materials Science and Engineering

On May 6, Vice President Zhu Shoufei conducted an in-depth discussion with leaders of the School of Materials Science and Engineering. Before the meeting, Zhu Shoufei had a cordial conversation with Bu Xianhe, Former Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).



At the meeting, the head of the School of Materials Science and Engineering reported the achievements and advancement made by the School in party building, academic discipline construction, scientific research, talent cultivation, and international exchanges. Moreover, the head profoundly analyzed current bottleneck problems facing the School and elaborated on ideas and specific measures for the reform of the School in its future development. Vice Deans of the School with different responsibilities gave reports on their work respectively.


Zhu Shoufei carefully listened to their reports and highly appreciated the School’s achievements. He suggested that the School prioritize its first-class discipline construction, enhance the top-notch design of its disciplines, and strive to promote its high-quality development in the critical period for rapid growth. Zhu Shoufei also emphasized that the School should introduce more talents and improve its human resource allocation system, to fully activate its talent team and unleash the development potential of its talents. Besides, he stated that the School should align with the requirements of the national strategies and the economic and social development, and focus on developing a scientific research platform and materials and engineering disciplines based on the construction of “new engineering courses”. Zhu Shoufei also highlighted the importance of fulfilling industry demands, accelerating close collaboration between industries, universities, and research institutes, and conducting deep and substantial cooperation with industry-leading companies, to advance the production and application of major achievements.
