Research Center for Carbon and Polymer Composite Materials

The center for Carbon Nanomaterials and Polymer Science in School of Materials Science and Engineering was established in July, 2015. This center originated from the teaching and research group of nanoscience and nanotechnology started in Nankai University in 2004.

The research areas of this center span the most attractive frontier disciplines of Nanomaterials and Polymer Science and Engineering. Our interests focused on Carbon Nanomaterials (including Graphene, Carbon nanotubes, and their high performance polymer composites), Intelligent Polymer Materials, Flexible and Stretchable devices.

These researches have been supported by broad resources, including National Natural Science Foundation, National "973" and "863" Programs, the Key Technologies R&D Program from Tianjin Research Foundation, etc. So far, more than 100 papers have been published in high level journals (including Nat. Photonics, Nat. Commun., Adv. Mater., Nano Lett., JACS, ACS Nano, Adv. Funct. Mater.) with more than 10000 citations. These research works have won many important awards, such as the Natural science and technology progress awards from the Chinese government.

Besides scientific research, our center pays much attention to cultivating students’ innovative thinking, strong research skills, and team spirit. In the coming few years, our center will set up a strong, cooperative and international team of more than 5 professors and 30 students. This center will provide a creative and supportive environment where world-class research and high quality education could be delivered in important discipline of Nano Materials and Polymer Science and Engineering.
